Composite Manufacturing fundamentals (5 modules, 2.5 hrs each)

Composite materials have been used in various weight-sensitive applications in different industries, such as aerospace, automotive, robotics, and sports equipment, due to their high specific strength and specific stiffness (high strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratios), compared to metals. This course covers the fundamentals of composite manufacturing, including mold making, wet layup, and prepreg layup techniques.

• Module 1: Introduction and mold making

• Module 2: Wet layup of a flat plate

• Module 3: Wet layup of a complex shape

• Module 4: Prepreg of a flat plate

• Module 5: Prepreg of a curved shape
