Analysis and Design of Composite Structures (5 modules, 2.5 hrs each)
Composite materials have been used in various weight-sensitive applications in different industries, such as aerospace, automotive, robotics, and sports equipment, due to their high specific strength and specific stiffness (high strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratios), compared to metals. This course covers the fundamentals of the mechanics of composite materials and how to analyze and design composite structures using Dr. Bishay's CADA applications and an FEA software package. The course comes with a free 1-year license of CADA, an application created for the analysis and design of composite laminates.
